Full Version: 2 years!

Our core team has now been making games for exactly 2 years!
It's amazing how much you can learn in that time

Nari, Dag and I started out doing some simple stuff for Battle for Wesnoth 3 years ago, and then exactly 2 years ago I started learning to program

We have since gone through several team names, to land at hiths.

I think it is really time now for me to learn something more than just Python, HTML, XML, and TOPL. Although Python will remain my language of choice, learning new languages introduces you to lots of different elements of programming.

I know some C++ and PHP, but don't really like either, though C++ is growing on me slowly

I plan on learning C++ next, as I have the most experience with it, but I will also look at a few others.

I'll start a thread to discuss the pros and cons of programming languages that I try, and why I chose one over another.
I'll also have list of languages I think I will avoid at all costs(mostly due to there extreme ugliness

)

Come on, you don't know what it is?

Well, it is another programming language that is lower-level than python, and is compiled, so it is significantly faster, not to mention Python is written in that language

I know this is dead thread, but, python is written in C not C++, also do you know Dag and Nari IRL?

Umm, Python uses the Visual C++ compiler for windows at least, and the two are cross-compatible, so yes, most of it is written in C, but some of it is written in C++, and a lot of the extensions are in C++

Dag and Nari were the original members of team RoeBros with me, before fydo joined and we turned into TLP

They are mentioned on the HITHS team page, beyond that they aren't really into much else with computers

I'm not sure if they even care

I guess if they want it then they can, or they'll ask someone who knows how to do it
